With funding sources always a challenge to maintain, non-profits today depend heavily on creative sources of revenue. At the last General Staff Meeting, you received information on two such projects: GoodShop and Albertsons Community Partners. With GoodShop, by simply shopping as you normally would, FSC receives a percentage of your purchase...at no extra cost to you! Then, by swiping your card at Albertsons, you accomplish the same goal! If you haven't experienced either initiative, please click below to learn how you can "shop 'til you drop a donation" for FSC.

SPECIAL EVENTS

The time has come once again to rev up for the third annual artHEALS charity auction! On September 13, 2008, over 250 friends, donors, partners, volunteers, and staff of FSC will descend on the Rutland Estate in St. Petersburg to celebrate our work toward a future free of sexual violence.
In partnership with Florida Craftsmen, Inc., artHEALS showcases unique pieces of inspiring art created by survivors of sexual violence in partnership with professional Tampa Bay area artists. Silent and live auctions will be held against the backdrop of the beautiful Rutland Estate, live music, and hors d'oeuvres. Proceeds will benefit the work and mission of FSC.
More details regarding staff and board volunteer opportunities at this event will be available in coming weeks. For additional information or marketing materials, please click here to email FSC Special Events.

Survivors Speak 2008 - Take 2!

In addition to the official display at the USF Poynter Library during the month of April, a mini-exhibit of the 2008 Survivors Speak mosaic artwork lived on at the Juvenile Welfare Board the entire month of June. As a result, the inspirational expressions of healing created by survivors of sexual violence touched the countless more who passed through the busy JWB lobby.

Five of seven new graduates attended the ceremony at the Royal Theater in St. Petersburg after completing an intensive, three-week course in Walgreens-specific customer service, life skills, resume & interviewing skills, and much more. Each graduate now has an inside track to a promising new career at Walgreens.
So far, five separate training courses have been offered, and more to come!

INTERNALLY DONATED (IN AND OUT)
Recent examples of 'giving of self' within the FSC family!
Life Skills Educator Virginia Scott of FSC's Ways to Work - Partners in
Self-Sufficiency program demonstrated the honor of internal philanthropy last month by donating two large clothing racks to the PSS Clothes Closet. (pictured right)
With clothing coming to the PSS office in large amounts thanks to the generosity of all of you and other donors, the challenge was organizing the items for clients to browse. Thanks to Virginia for spearheading this effort!
ADDITIONAL PSS DONATION NEEDS
If anyone else has any additional racks or shelves to donate that could serve as a
new home to clothes such as those pictured here, the staff at PSS waiting patiently to use this conference room again would be very grateful! :)
Additional clothing is always being accepted. Currently, the Clothes Closet is in most need of men's dress wear, and shoes of all types and sizes for both men and women. To donate, please contact PSS directly at 727-446-7778 to make arrangements. Thank you for your continued generosity!
PHILANTHROPY IS A TWO-WAY STREET AT PSS
Clothing might not be edible, but delicious treats from Panera Bread certainly are! PSS has partnered with Panera to provide needy clients with such items as bread,
pastries, and more on a continual basis for the next year. An important message from the PSS staff: donated clothing and food are also available to needy staff, or to other FSC programs as inventory allows. If you are in need of any of the above-mentioned items, please contact PSS at 727-446-7778.
